Eg Råvn Väv (/ɪ̘ˈllgə/ /vəv/ [spontaneous] [bat (club)]) is a subtropical Large Town located in Piro Ībudaka County, Qånehgdab Kingdom, within the United Kingdom of Undermountain.

The name Eg Råvn Väv is derived from the Dwarven language, as Eg Råvn Väv was founded by Shëkê Åcväru, who was culturaly Dwarvern.

Climate

Eg Råvn Väv has a yearly average temperature of 15°C (59°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cool 18°C (64°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 12°C (53°F). Eg Råvn Väv receives an average of 240 cm/y (94 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Eg Råvn Väv covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1488 m (4881 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Eg Råvn Väv was founded durring the early 11th century, by Shëkê Åcväru. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Shëkê Åcväru.

Eg Råvn Väv was built using the conventions of Dwarvern durring the early 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Eg Råvn Väv is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Eg Råvn Väv is buildings are arranged within a network of spacious cobblestone streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is protected by a renforced stone fence which sits atop earthwork defences, for some of the best inexpencive defences a town of Eg Råvn Väv's size could have. The town's well-designed, yet cheep are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

Right off the bat Eg Råvn Väv hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. The town is very clearly a joyfull place as well as wealthy. Music can be heard often, as well as laughter. The smell of food and drink permiates the air. You can’t help but smile.

Civic Infrastructure

Eg Råvn Väv has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Eg Råvn Väv. Eg Råvn Väv has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Eg Råvn Väv's natural decorations nor waterways.

Eg Råvn Väv has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Eg Råvn Väv has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Eg Råvn Väv's citizens locals enjoy many vices and lustful appetites. They may have religious sanction for their deeds, or neighbors might trade with them for such things, or they could be followers of some ideology that blesses such pursuits. Their economy or their social organization is usually heavily reliant on such traffic, and to ensure its continuance they may have made bargains with various mortal and immortal powers.

Eg Råvn Väv's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is famous for its stately symmetry, classical elements, and grand appearance. Columns and pillars, such as Corinthian columns, are often seen supporting open structures or porticos. Symmetry is an important feature of this style, with each half of a building mirroring the other. Domed ceilings and windows grace these buildings, with everything placed in a mathematical arrangement.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century several years of heavy rains culminated in a peculiar disaster. A great hole opened up beneath Eg Råvn Väv, swallowing large sections of the community. Eg Råvn Väv lost 145 people, 375 livestock, and 72 buildings in the disaster. This disaster is often refereed to as The Horror Swallowing.
